Name It is built local-first on purpose. This page explains exactly what that means in practice.
Everything you write — story names, entries, today-notes — is stored only in your browser’s local storage (IndexedDB) on the device you’re using. Nothing is sent to a server. There is no account, no sign-in, and no backend that could receive or store your writing.
Name It never scans, analyses, or transmits your writing content, automatically or otherwise. There is no analytics tracking of what you write. If you enable a PIN, your story content is encrypted on-device using a key derived from that PIN — we never see or store the PIN itself.
Nothing, unless you take an explicit action to make it happen — for example, exporting a local JSON backup file yourself. Any future sync or cloud backup feature will be opt-in and clearly separate from the free, local-only core of the app.
Since everything lives on your device, clearing it is entirely in your control — delete a story from within the app, or clear your browser’s site data for Name It to remove everything at once.
