Last updated 28 August 2026. Welcome to Name It, an app by By Boston (“we,” “us,” “our”). By accessing or using Name It (the “App”), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the App.
Name It is a private, local-first journalling tool provided for personal, non-commercial use.
You agree to use Name It only for its intended purpose. You must not:
Any entries, names, or notes you create in the App belong to you. We don’t claim ownership over your personal content. If account sync is enabled in the future, you’ll be responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
The App’s design, user interface, specific written content, and underlying code are owned by By Boston and protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, or distribute any part of the App without our permission.
Name It’s approach draws on Narrative Therapy, a therapeutic methodology developed by Michael White and David Epston and documented in their 1990 book Narrative Means to Therapeutic Ends. This methodology is not proprietary to By Boston, and Name It is an independent implementation of that approach — we do not claim ownership over the underlying technique itself.
Name It is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not guarantee the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of data loss. To the maximum extent permitted by law, By Boston is not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to loss of entries or personal content.
We may update the App or these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms. We may suspend or terminate access to the App for any user who violates these Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, Australia.
